Man drives through Syd park during pursuit

A man is expected to be charged after he failed to stop for police investigating the sexual assault of a woman in the Sydney CBD.

A man who was allegedly armed with a gun when he sexually assaulted a woman in a Sydney CBD motel room is in hospital following a police pursuit that saw him drive through a park.

Police say the man failed to stop at Bondi around 11.30am on Saturday and travelled through a park before crashing into a parked car on Old South Head Road.

They will allege he is the same man who sexually assaulted and robbed a 22-year-old woman at a motel on Park St on June 19.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital under police guard and is expected to be charged.
