A man has escaped from Victoria's Dhurringile Prison.

A man has escaped from Victoria's minimum-security Dhurringile Prison near Tatura. (AAP)

A man has escaped from prison in northern Victoria.

Say Hour left the grounds of the minimum-security Dhurringile Prison near Tatura in the Goulburn Valley between 7pm and 8.30pm (AEST) on Friday, police say.

He is described as Asian in appearance and about 167cm tall with a medium build and dark hair.

He has tattoos on his forearms, chest and lower back and was last seen wearing prison-issue green tracksuit pants and a green jumper.
