Man faces 13 charges over fiery NSW crash

A man will face a bedside court hearing over a fiery eight-car Good Friday crash in Sydney that killed a 17-year-old boy and injured four others.

A 26-year-old driver who's under police guard in hospital is facing 13 charges over a fiery eight-vehicle Good Friday crash that killed a teenage Uber passenger in Sydney's southwest and seriously injured four others.

Police believe the 26-year-old man was speeding in his Commodore car before it veered into oncoming traffic on Friday evening at Woodbine, causing the "unbelievable" smash that involved seven other vehicles.

A 17-year-old boy travelling in an Uber was killed and five others were taken to hospital.

Friends of the teen, named in media as Blake Feeney, have turned to social media to honour their "best mate".

"R.I.P to one of the best mates I could ever ask for. See ya one day my bruv. Blake feeney" wrote one on Facebook.

"Rest in peace blake cant believe this happened I'm broken cant believe your (sic) gone too soon," wrote another.

A 57-year-old male driver and his passengers, two men aged 19 and 20 and an 18-year-old woman, have had surgery and remain in serious but stable condition.

The 26-year-old's car caught fire as a result of the crash and he was freed from the wreckage by witnesses.

He underwent surgery at Liverpool Hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.

He has been charged with 13 offences including manslaughter, aggravated driving occasioning death and negligent driving.

He is under police guard in hospital and is due to appear via a bedside hearing at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
