Man faces committal over Qld granny murder

A man charged with murdering a grandmother who was found dead in her Macleay Island home in 2012 will face a committal hearing.

A man accused of murdering an 85-year-old Macleay Island grandmother will face a committal hearing on Monday in Brisbane.

Stephen John Mark Fennell, 53, was arrested in March 2013 after a lengthy police investigation into the disappearance of pensioner Liselotte Watson.

Ms Watson's body was found by police in a bedroom of her home on Macleay Island, off Brisbane, in November 2012.

His lawyer Michael Gatenby has previously said Fennell is looking forward to "the opportunity to clear his name".

Evidence handed to the defence team by police included telephone intercepts and 300 witness statements.
