Man fatally stabs woman in Sydney's south

A 58-year-old man will face a Sydney court over the murder of a woman, 45, believed to be his partner, in a stabbing attack at a home in southern Sydney.

A man has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of a woman, believed to be his partner, which also left a teenage girl in hospital in southern Sydney.

Police and paramedics were called to a home on Valda St, Bexley, shortly before 7pm on Monday, where a 45-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old girl, believed to be the woman's daughter, was taken to hospital having suffered serious injuries to her hands.

A 58-year-old man turned himself in to Kogarah Police Station immediately after the alleged attack.

He was later charged with murder and wound with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Kogarah Local Court on Tuesday.
