Man held 'concerning' talks with boy, 9

Police on Queensland's Sunshine Coast are concerned about the behaviour of a man who has twice struck up a conversation with a nine-year-old boy.

Police want to speak to a man who repeatedly struck up "concerning" conversations with a young boy on the Sunshine Coast.

The man spoke to the nine-year-old boy as he walked along a Sunshine Beach easement on the mornings of both August 15 and 29.

"The nature of the conversations led police to be concerned about the interactions," Detective Senior Sergeant Phil Hurst told AAP.

"The child was concerned enough to go and report it immediately to a parent."

He urged the man to come forward to clarify what was said.

Police have also released pictures of the man taken by one of the boy's parents.

The child wasn't harmed and walked away both times he was approached.

The man is described as Caucasian with black or grey hair, and was walking a staffy-like dog on one occasion.

Anyone who recognises him, or the man himself, are encouraged to contact police immediately.
