A man who repeatedly bashed his girlfriend over the face with his plaster cast later told police he had just "pushed her".
Hironori Abo was placed on an 18-month good behaviour bond on Wednesday after a court heard how he had attacked his girlfriend Masami Kurisu during an evening out in Sydney last month.
Abo, court documents state, had become enraged when he saw that another man whom he didn't know was calling Ms Kurisu.
He demanded she call him back, before grabbing her phone and throwing it on the roadway.
He then pulled her hair and hit her in the mouth with his right forearm which had a plaster cast on it.
He continued to yell at her as they walked towards Darling Harbour, hitting her several more times in the face with his plaster cast.
Ms Kurisu put her arms up around her face in an attempt to shield herself.
It was fortuitous, Magistrate Jane Motley said that police happened to be driving past and saw blood "pouring" from her mouth and nose.
In sentencing the 27-year-old for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, Ms Motley said while his girlfriend had recovered physically who knows what sort of emotional impact the attack had on her.
"You say you love her. This is not a demonstration of someone who has a loving or caring motive," she told him.
"This type of conduct is simply not tolerated in this community."
After the attack, facts state that when police asked Abo what had happened, he said: "I push her" (sic).
