A man has faced court charged with murdering a mother-of-four in her Brisbane home.
The 38-year-old Gold Coast man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He is accused of murdering 34-year-old Anthea Mari at her home in Norman Park in Brisbane's inner-east early on Tuesday.
The man has also been charged with break and enter, deprivation of liberty, attempt to murder and rape offences.
His lawyer Adam Magill asked the magistrate to adjourn the case for one month.
Mr Magill consented to a police application to perform disease tests on his client.
The prisoner was remanded in custody to appear in court on September 29.
Outside court Mr Magill said the disease test was in relation to other offences.
He also said his client had suffered injuries to his leg and back when he was bitten by a dog during his arrest at a Gold Coast property on Wednesday.
"He's holding up OK, he's obviously a bit sore from the dog bite," Mr Magill told reporters.
"There's certainly no complaint, he voiced that to me quite clearly.
"It's just a part of the arrest unfortunately, but he's a bit tender."
Mr Magill said he had instructed his client not to consent to be interviewed by police, who had outlined their allegations to the lawyer briefly on Thursday morning.
"My instructions were at this stage until we know something a little bit further not to participate in a record of interview," he said.
"Obviously the charges are serious, so we need to address them cautiously."
Police tracked the man to the property less than 24 hours after naming him as a person of interest on Tuesday.
Two of Ms Mari's children, who were sleeping in the Norman Park home on the night of her death, have received counselling.
It has been revealed that Ms Mari was a past victim of domestic violence and had been in and out of refuges for 15 years.
