Man in custody over alleged NSW murder

A man accused of murdering another man whose body was found in a Wollongong unit will remain in custody.

A man accused of murdering another man in the NSW Illawarra region will remain behind bars after his matter came before a court.

Meirion Thomas Morris, 57, has been charged with the murder of 36-year-old Jade Cady, whose body was discovered inside a Wollongong flat by police on November 28.

Morris, who was arrested on Monday, did not apply for bail when his matter came before Port Kembla Local Court on Tuesday and it was formally refused.

His matter is set to return to the same court in January, where it is expected Morris will appear via audio visual link.
