Man in underpants 'parties' in German Chancellor's jet

Clad in only his underpants and alleged to be under the influence of drugs, a man has breached security and 'partied' on board a German government jet used frequently by Angela Merkel.

German prosecutors are investigating how a bodybuilder of Turkish descent was able to breach security at Cologne airport and slip on board an empty government jet frequented by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The 24-year-old is alleged to have boarded the Airbus A319 in the possession of drugs, stripped down to his underwear and staged a boisterous one-man party long into the night, spraying fire extinguisher foam about the cabin, pushing buttons in the cockpit, releasing an emergency slide and even dancing on the wing.

It's understood it took police, security guards, and members of the armed forces four hours to remove the intruder, who was finally taken down by a police dog.

The incident took place on the evening of July 25 but is attracting renewed interest in the German press following the leak of an 8-page police report detailing the event.

The bodybuilder, known only as Volkan T, put the plane out of action for several weeks with an estimated €100,000 (A$147,575) in damage.

He has been detained in a psychiatric hospital ever since.
