Man injured after crane topples in Taree

A worker has been injured after falling from a crane which tipped over at a hospital building site on the NSW mid north coast.

A worker has suffered a fractured leg after a crane toppled at a hospital building site in Taree on the NSW mid north coast.

The man, aged in his 40s, fell four metres from the crane after it tipped at the Manning Base Hospital's carpark construction site about 7.40am on Thursday.

The man was taken to the hospital with a broken leg, a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman told AAP.

Nine Network video footage shows the crane truck flipped backwards, with the crane's arm smashed down on the scaffolding at the two-storey High Street carpark.

SafeWork NSW inspectors are on their way to the site.
