Man jailed for 'terrifying' Vic abduction

A drug addict who abducted two women from a Melbourne car wash and reminded them about Jill Meagher's fate has been jailed for at least three years.

An ice addict threatened two women with meeting the same fate as murder victim Jill Meagher after abducting them in Melbourne.

Aaron Schrempf, 24, kidnapped, sexually assaulted and robbed the two women, aged 19 and 22, after getting in their car at a Keilor East car wash in May last year.

He threatened to slit their throats and told them: "If there is any funny business, you know what happened to Jill Meagher."

Victorian County Court Judge Mark Taft said Schrempf had made reference to Ms Meagher to cause terror to his two victims.

Schrempf, of Coolaroo, was on Wednesday jailed for five years and two months, with a non-parole period of three years.

During the attack, Schrempf made the women drive to an ATM and withdraw cash and then sexually assaulted both of them.

He stole their phones and wallets, telling one woman that he had her ID and warned her not to go to police.

In a statement tendered to the court, one of the women said she feared she was going to be killed.

"I just can't comprehend how someone could do such a thing to innocent young women," she said.

Schrempf was caught by police five months after the abduction and pleaded guilty to six charges of armed robbery, false imprisonment and indecent assault.

He told a psychologist that he was an ice addict and was struggling with drug debts at the time.

"I've gone out, saw a car and thought I'll make money, asked them for money to pay the rent," he said.

Schrempf wept as his sentence was handed down.

Ms Meagher was raped and killed as she walked home in Melbourne in September 2012.
