Man killed following Gold Coast crash

A man has been fatally struck by a car after his own vehicle crashed on a Gold Coast highway.

A Queensland man apparently escaped serious injury in a single-car accident on the Gold Coast only to be hit and killed by another car when he left his vehicle.

Police say the 27-year-old was driving on the Tugun Bypass about 1am (AEST) when it's believed his car crashed near the highway's centre divide.

Following the accident, the man got out of his car but was hit by another vehicle on the highway.

He died at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate.
