A man has disappeared on a remote mountain road in north Queensland.

Edward Kerley, 34, was last seen by a family member in the Townsville suburb of Shaw, about 1pm (AEST) on Saturday.

Mr Kerley was going to drive along the Black River Road to visit another family member near Herveys Range, but he never arrived.

His family hasn't been able to contact him since Saturday afternoon and is concerned for his welfare.

Mr Kerley was last seen wearing a bright blue, long-sleeved shirt, blue denim jeans, black and white rubber thongs, a black baseball cap and black sunglasses.

He was driving a white Nissan Navara single cab tray back with Queensland registration 989TNP.
