Man pleads guilty to WA hairdresser murder

A Perth man has pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-partner at a hairdressing salon and wounding her pregnant daughter.

A 48-year-old man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his former partner at a Perth hairdressing salon, wounding her pregnant daughter and injuring another woman who tried to intervene.

James Bill Payet appeared in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link from Hakea Prison where he pleaded guilty to five charges including murder, grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

Plush Hair salon owner Angela Ferullo, 43, died at her Como business in June last year after being stabbed in front of shocked customers.

Her pregnant daughter, Selina Bello, 23, was also stabbed but recovered from her injuries and the baby was unharmed.

A woman who tried to intervene was injured too.

Payet also pleaded guilty to unlawfully detaining a man in Success and doing an act that resulted in bodily harm.

Outside court, Ms Bello wept and told reporters she was relieved that Payet pleaded guilty.

"Me and my family can finally put this behind us," she said.

Payet will be sentenced in the WA Supreme Court on May 13.
