Man pretends to be Vic SES volunteer

Police say a man has been impersonating a SES volunteer in country Victoria, turning up to numerous emergencies with flashing lights in his car.

A man pretending to be an SES volunteer even has flashing lights on his car when he turns up to emergencies in country Victoria.

Benalla detectives are investigating reports the man impersonated an SES volunteer at incidents around Wangaratta, Benalla and Shepparton from November last year until early this year.

Each time, the man has turned up at an emergency scene with flashing lights on his car, police allege.

A 27-year-old Benalla man has been interviewed and released pending summons, police said on Friday.
