Man rams house, sets it ablaze in Qld

A man has extensive burns after ramming a house with his car, splashing accelerant around and setting it on fire west of Brisbane.

Five people have been taken hospital after a man rammed a car into a house and set it on fire west of Brisbane, leaving him with life-threatening burns.

Two women also suffered minor burns and two firefighters were assessed in hospital after the man rammed the property at Ipswich, splashed accelerant around, and then ignited it on Monday evening.

An intense fire quickly engulfed the house in suburban Brookwater.

The man suffered extensive burns and is fighting for life in a Brisbane hospital.

The women, who were inside the home, suffered burns to their hands and the firefighters were taken to hospital for checks after part of the roof fell in on them.

The firefighters have since been released, the fire service said.

Police believe it's a domestic violence incident, and a crime scene has been established at the Birchwood Road property.

National domestic violence helpline: 1800 737 732 or 1800RESPECT. In an emergency call triple-zero.
