Man seen in Byron Bay park with gun

A man walking around a Byron Bay park in NSW's north has been found carrying an unregistered gun and rounds of ammunition.

A man is in custody after being seen wandering around with a gun in a Byron Bay park.

When police stopped him they found a pistol in his backpack and several rounds of ammunition.

The 28-year-old man was charged with a number of firearms offences and will appear in Mullumbimby Local Court on Thursday.
