Man shot at Melbourne shopping centre

A man is critically injured after being shot in a Melbourne shopping plaza car park.

A man is fighting for his life after a gunman fired several shots at him in a daylight attack at a Melbourne shopping centre.

The shooting happened at Campbellfield Plaza just after 3.30pm on Monday.

Police were told a man with a firearm approached his victim in the car park, then fired a number of times.

The wounded man has life-threatening injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition.

No one else was injured.

The shooter took off in a red car, heading towards the Dallas area.

Police have been told more shots were fired a short time later near the intersection of Riggall and Blair Streets, Broadmeadows.

It believed those shots were fired into the air.

A car matching the same description - a red Holden Commodore - was also seen in that area.
