A man who says he was punched in the face by singer Chris Brown and his bodyguard during an altercation outside a Washington hotel is suing for $US3 million ($A3.34 million).
The civil lawsuit filed on Tuesday in Washington seeks $US1.5 million from each man. Lawyers for Parker Isaac Adams say their client's nose was fractured and he had other injuries to his head and face as a result of being punched.
Adams said in a telephone interview on Thursday that he is seeking to recover money for his medical bills which include visits to a plastic surgeon and a breathing specialist.
A lawyer for Adams said his client is largely seeking money for "pain and suffering."
Lawyers for Brown and his bodyguard have declined to comment.
Brown pleaded not guilty to assault charges last October.
He reportedly fought with Adams after Adams approached the star and asked if he could take a photograph.
When Brown refused, Adams tried to insert himself into a picture that the singer had been taking with two other people.
Adams alleges that Brown punched him in the face, fracturing his nose.
Brown says Adams was attempting to board his tour bus when the altercation took place.
Following his arrest, Brown checked himself into rehab to seek help for his anger issues, but he was asked to leave two weeks later after allegedly throwing a rock through his mother's car window during an argument.
