Man 'thrown into air' by car after dispute

A man had to be hospitalised for serious injuries after being thrown into the air when he was hit by a car on the Gold Coast.

A man has been thrown into the air and hospitalised for serious internal injuries and bone fractures after he tried to stop a driver leaving after an argument, police say.

It's believed the two men, who are known to each other, got into an argument late on Saturday night at Tallai, on the Gold Coast, when one got in his car to leave.

Police say the other man then stood in front of the vehicle to try to stop it, but was driven into and thrown into the air, landing on the nature strip.

The 32-year-old was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital while the 39-year-old driver is assisting police with their enquiries after initially fleeing the scene.
