Man to face sentencing hearing for murder

An Adelaide man with a history of domestic violence against his partner will be sentenced over her murder.

A man will face a sentence hearing for murdering his partner who sustained 50 separate blows to her body during a prolonged attack at their Adelaide home.

A Supreme Court jury in October found Michael Suve McDonald guilty of murdering 25-year-old Lana Towers, rejecting the defence submission that he should be convicted of the less serious offence of manslaughter.

McDonald, 33, was twice charged with assaulting Ms Towers in the months before her death and neighbours overheard loud fights between the couple, who had two children together.

He will appear in court on Monday.
