Man trapped by tram freed on Gold Coast

A man has been freed after being trapped under a tram on the Gold Coast light rail network.

A man injured after being trapped under a tram on the Gold Coast may have been sleeping on the tracks.

The man suffered lower limb injuries in Friday morning's accident and was trapped for some time before being freed by emergency services.

The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The incident was reported to police as a man laying on the tracks, possibly sleeping, when he was hit.

The accident suspended Translink services, which have since resumed between Southport and Surfers Paradise North stations.
