Man walking before body found in Vic tip

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man whose body was found at a Melbourne tip two weeks ago.

A man found dead in a Melbourne tip may have been walking in a neighbouring suburb the night before.

The investigation has focused on Narre Warren, about 5km from the Hampton Park tip where the man's semi-naked body was found on September 9.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man, in a white tracksuit top and blue shorts, walking along Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road just before midnight on September 8.

The man, in his early 20s and from Endeavour Hills, had no apparent injuries when he was found at the tip.

One theory is that a truck unknowingly transported the body to the landfill site.

A tip worker called police after initially thinking he had found a mannequin.
