Man walks free after dynamite plea

Convicted killer Goran Mackic has pleaded guilty to an explosives supply charge in a Sydney court.

A Sydney underworld figure has walked free after pleading guilty to supplying explosives.

Goran Mackic, an artist and convicted killer, was arrested last year and accused of offering to sell three sticks of explosives to fuel warfare between outlaw bikie gangs.

The 53-year-old was due to stand trial in the Downing Centre District Court on Tuesday but instead pleaded guilty to a possess, supply or make explosives charge.

Justice Reg Blanch sentenced him to a year behind bars and a non-parole period of eight months but with time served, Mackic has already been released on parole.

The Director of Public Prosecutions is not pursuing a second charge of possessing explosives in a public place.

Mackic had previously been convicted on two counts of manslaughter in 2002 and was released from custody in 2004.
