A man wielding a gun entered the studios of the national Dutch broadcaster NOS on Thursday demanding to be allowed to go on air, but was quickly arrested, Dutch news agencies reported.

There were no immediate reports of injuries and the police could not immediately be reached for comment.

An 8pm (1900 GMT) NOS broadcast displayed a message reading "In connection with circumstances, no broadcast is available at this time".

The NOS studios, in the central Dutch town of Hilversum, were evacuated, news agencies reported.
