Man with fake gun at airport fined $600

A man who became aggressive towards customs officers after being caught with a fake gun and capsicum spray at Gold Coast airport has been fined $600.

A man who became aggressive towards custom officers after they found a fake gun and capsicum spray in his baggage has been fined $600.

Travis Eckardt, 43, was also found with other prohibited items, including a laser pointer and ice smoking pipes, when he was picked for a random bag search at the Gold Coast airport on September 26.

Eckardt became aggressive towards the custom officers and federal police were called.

He was charged with obstructing a Commonwealth public official.

He was fined $600 when he faced the Coolangatta Magistrates Court on Monday.
