Man, woman die in separate Vic crashes

A male driver and female driver have died after losing control of their vehicles in separate incidents in Victoria overnight.

A man and woman are dead following separate crashes in Victoria overnight.

The man, believed to be in his late 40s, died when his car lost control and hit a ute at Diggers Rest in Melbourne's north west about 9pm (AEDT) on Thursday.

He died at the scene while the ute driver, believed to be a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

In a separate incident, a woman died after losing control and rolling her car at Mitchell Park in the state's west about 1.40am on Friday.

A female passenger was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Victoria's road toll now stands at 35 compared to 30 this time last year.
