The manager of search and rescue at AMSA, Alan Lloyd, has defended his agency's response to an asylum boat that sank between Indonesia and Christmas Island in June last year with the deaths of 102 people.
Western Australia correspondent Ryan Emery says the coroner appeared surprised when Mr Lloyd eventually admitted that his agency had little idea what resources its Indonesian counterpart could deploy to the boat in question.
SBS WA correspondent Ryan Emery was at today's coronial inquest.
He spoke with Greg Dyett.
