Manly coach Geoff Toovey faces an anxious week as the Sea Eagles sweat on several injuries picked up in Saturday's 12-4 loss to St George Illawarra in Wollongong.
The defeat saw Toovey's side slump to 1-3 for the season - Manly's worst start to a season since 2009 when Des Hasler's reigning premiers lost their opening five games.
It's been a difficult month for Toovey with star playmakers Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran announcing they'll leave the club at the end of 2015 and speculation mounting on his own position.
A disappointing night at WIN Stadium was compounded by injuries that saw Jamie Lyon (groin), Feleti Mateo (ankle) and Josh Starling (knee) all limp off in the second half.
With senior prop Brenton Lawrence already out indefinitely with a back problem along with exciting centre Clint Gutherson (knee) and Jorge Taufua's off-field indiscretions casting doubts on his future, more injuries are the last thing Toovey needs ahead of next week's clash with Canberra in Albury.
"We're not too sure yet, but it looks like Feleti will be a couple of weeks, Josh Starling has done his knee again and will also be a few weeks," Toovey said.
"The skipper (Lyon) will be assessed in the next few days. The only positive for us was that Kieran Foran came through OK from his hamstring injury."
Lyon missed the defeat by Canterbury last week with the same injury and said he felt it go again early in the game and was forced to come off after halftime.
"It's frustrating, the groin injury is not 100 per cent and I have to get it right," Lyon said.
"We'll just have to see how we go this week."
