Manly coach Trent Barrett has given an assurance he'll stick with Dylan Walker at five-eighth, scotching suggestions he's toying with moving captain Jamie Lyon into the halves.
Former South Sydney centre Walker's form has been lukewarm in his first three appearances for the Sea Eagles and he has lacked his usual attacking potency following his off-season positional shift.
But Barrett saw signs of better things to come when the team claimed their first win of 2016 against Cronulla on Monday.
He has urged patience as the new halves combination of Daly Cherry-Evans and Walker is bedded in, ruling out a positional swap between Walker and centre Lyon, who won led the Sea Eagles to a grand final win in 2008 at five-eighth.
"Dylan will stay there. I thought he did some really good things last week," Barrett said on Friday.
"I thought (halfback Cherry-Evans) had his best game of the year. The better the team goes, I guess the more stability we have around our combinations, the more ball we can have, the better our halves are going to go."
"We saw in patches last week that there is something there. I have seen enough over the last four months that they are the two I want in the halves and I will stick with it."
