Many millions still hungry: Oxfam

Oxfam Australia says one in four people in some of the world's poorest regions still don't have enough to eat.

Oxfam Australia says one in four people in some of the world's poorest regions still don't have enough to eat, despite an overall decline in hunger worldwide.

Data released this month by the Food and Agriculture Organisation shows that globally the number of hungry people is decreasing.

But Oxfam Australia's food policy advisor, Kelly Dent, says repeated food crises, combined with rising food prices are keeping some regions hungry.

Kelly Dent, has told Marina Freri, Australia has a responsibility to help tackle the issue.
