Marathon Gold Coast siege ends

Gold Coast police have ended a 13-and-a-half hour siege involving a father allegedly armed with a knife without anyone being injured.

A siege on the Gold Coast involving a father and his teenage son has ended after almost 14 hours.

The siege in the beachside suburb of Currumbin ended at about 8.30pm on Tuesday when the power to the unit was cut and officers moved in.

No one was injured and a 43-year-old man has been arrested.

The man, allegedly armed with a knife, had been holed up inside a unit with his 16-year-old son since about 7am.

A heavily armed Special Emergency Response Team had been outside the apartment complex all day trying to negotiate with the man, who refused to talk to them.

At one point, they played a message from the man's mother over a loudspeaker.

The man posted a video of police outside the unit on his Facebook page.
