Mariah Carey won't rush her new album

Pop star Mariah Carey is determined to make her next album perfect and says she will not rush to get the record finished.

US singer Mariah Carey refuses to rush her new album.

Carey released her last record in 2010 and she's determined to make sure her still-untitled offering is perfect despite the four-year wait.

She believes fans will appreciate her holding back when they hear her new songs, because they're so personal.

"The album itself was always most important because I wanted to make sure that it was a journey that was representative of who I am and what I"ve been through over the past three years," she told MTV News.

The album, formerly titled The Art of Letting Go, is currently scheduled for release on May 6.
