Former Test batsman Shaun Marsh has continued his bright start to the season, top-scoring with 84 in Western Australia's 52-run one-day cup win over Tasmania at Blacktown on Saturday.
Marsh and John Rogers (68) put on 150 for the second wicket - Western Australia's highest partnership of the season to date - helping set up a solid total of 8-256.
Marsh's second successive half-century leaves the 30-year-old with an average of 61 after three matches.
The injury-prone Marsh, who missed the early matches of the season with a hamstring injury, has not played a Test since he was dropped after making 3 and 0 against India in January last year.
Evan Gulbis led the Tasmanian fightback with the seamer knocking over both Marsh and Rogers in claiming 3-37 off his allotted ten overs.
Former Australian Test opener Simon Katich was dismissed for one, suffering his first failure with the bat since returning to domestic cricket after an 18-month absence.
The 38-year-old veteran of 56 Tests was caught behind off the bowling of Ben Laughlin having previously made successive half-centuries.
After reaching 2-119 in reply, Tasmania suffered a steady loss of wickets to be all-out for 204 as their three-match winning streak came to an end against the competition's bottom side.
Gulbis backed up his bowling effort by top-scoring for Tasmania, hitting a quick-fire 47 at better than a run-a-ball.
However, his dismissal proved to be the beginning of the end for the Tasmanians.
Andrew Tye collected the bowling honours for Western Australia with 5-46.
