St George Illawarra duo Benji Marshall and Josh Dugan have been cleared of ankle injuries for Friday's crunch NRL clash with Brisbane.

The in-form pair both limped off Kogarah Oval late in the Dragons' big win over the Gold Coast on Sunday but will take the field in a must win game for both teams at Suncorp Stadium.

The Dragons and Broncos sit a win behind eight-placed Parramatta, with the loser set to kiss their finals hopes goodbye.

Veteran utility Timana Tahu will make his season debut for Newcastle after being named on the bench for Parramatta's trip to Hunter Stadium on Saturday.

Playmaker Jarrod Mullen returns from a calf injury for the home side.

South Sydney's English prop George Burgess returns from a chicken-wing ban for Thursday's match with Canterbury at ANZ Stadium, with his brother Luke moving to the bench.

Captain John Sutton (knee) has not been named for the Rabbitohs but could be a late inclusion.

Winger Pat Richards (hamstring) returns for the Wests Tigers for Saturday evening's match-up against Canberra in the nation's capital.

Boom rookie Mitch Cornish has been named at halfback for the Raiders.

Prop Jesse Bromwich is back for Melbourne after missing the win over Penrith due to the birth of his child.

Sonny Bill Williams returns to the Sydney Roosters starting side to host the Storm on Saturday night in his second game back from a thumb injury.

Warriors coach Andrew McFadden has rung the changes after their last-start thumping at the hands of the Roosters, ahead of Sunday's match against the Gold Coast in Auckland.

Dominique Peyroux comes into the centres for David Fusitua, Sione Lousi moves into the back-row for Sebastine Ikahihifo and Sam Rapira replaces Feleti Mateo on the bench.

Hooker James Segeyaro hasn't been named by Penrith coach Ivan Cleary for Sunday's trip to Brookvale Oval to meet premiership frontrunners Manly.

But the livewire No.9 is expected to play after missing Monday's loss to Melbourne after travelling to Papua New Guinea to attend his father's funeral.

Daniel Holdsworth replaces the injured playmaker Fa'amanu Brown (knee) for Monday's trip to Townsville to play North Queensland in the final match of round 25.
