Allegations against a Melbourne massage therapist have been kept under wraps by the health regulator, which has banned him from practising.
The Health Complaints Commissioner on Tuesday confirmed a 12-week interim ban had been imposed "to protect the public", from masseur Michael Sergides, who trades as Mobile Just Massage on the city's southeast outskirts.
"Mr Sergides received the ban under the general code of conduct that applies to all health service providers," commissioner Karen Cusack said.
"I don't issue these orders lightly but I'm satisfied that this was necessary to avoid a serious risk to the health, safety or welfare of Victorians," Ms Cusack said.
The commissioner declined to outline details of the allegations against Mr Sergides. His ban prevents him from advertising, offering or providing any clinical or non-clinical service until the outcome of a commission investigation.
A website for Mobile Just Massage promotes a massage therapist with more than 38 years experience in the industry.
