Massive storm halts NSW Open

Before storms halted play at around 2pm Aaron Wilkin and Rohan Blizard got hot at the NSW Open, setting a new course record.

Intense lightning and torrential rain brought an early end to round two of the 2015 NSW Open Golf Championship at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club.

With around 50 players yet to tee-off in the second round, huge storm cells rolled in around 2pm (AEDT) bringing an end to the day's play

While many didn't get out, those that did made the most of good conditions, with Queensland's Aaron Wilkin smashing the Stonecutters Ridge course record with a new low mark of 10-under 62.

It didn't take long for it to be equalled however with tour veteran Rohan Blizard posting the same mark about 20 minutes later, to join Wilkin atop the leaderboard at 13-under.

Tim Hart and Chris Gaunt are two shots back at 11-under in the clubhouse, while Callan O'Reilly is also at 11-under and six-under for his round through 15 holes.

Former young gun Ewan Porter is nine-under for the tournament and in contention after firing a second round of two-under 70.
