The Football Federation of Australia (FFA) has confirmed it has terminated Matildas coach Alen Stajcic's contract just five months before the World Cup.
FFA chief executive David Gallop said the decision comes after an internal review into the team's culture.
The decision comes after confidential surveys were conducted by the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), women's rights group Our Watch. Discussions were also conducted with players, staff and coaches.
"Fair to say that there are workplace issues around the culture of the set-up, but it's difficult to go into specifics," Mr Gallop said at a press conference on Saturday.
He said the FFA wanted to have a replacement coach before the Cup of Nations.
"We no longer feel confident that Alen is the right person to lead the team and the staff," he said at a press conference on Saturday.
"We will move as quickly as possible to appoint a coach for the Cup of Nations and the preparation for the World Cup in June and July. We thank Alen for his efforts."

The ABC reported disharmony between some players and coaching staff had prompted an internal review which was completed recently.
Mr Stajcic had been in charge of the Matildas since 2014 after Hesterine de Reus was sacked following a player revolt.
The 45-year-old has overseen runs to the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, as well as a rise to fourth in the FIFA rankings.
