The Matildas have gone down to Scotland 4-2 in their final group match of the Cyprus Women's Cup.
Much like they did against France in the previous match, the Australians found themselves three goals down within the first 30 minutes, scrambling to play catch up.
Substitute Michelle Heyman scored twice to reduce the deficit, but the Matildas were unable to bridge the gap enough to improve their standing in Group B.
In the other Group B match, France defeated the Netherlands 3-0 to edge Scotland on goal difference to top the table and book a berth in the final against England.
The Matildas now face Italy in Paralimni in the 7th/8th play-off on Wednesday.
