Mauboy knows how to get Sesame Street

Aussie star Jessica Mauboy has filmed an animated clip that will feature on the long-running US children's TV show, Sesame Street.

Australian pop star Jessica Mauboy will appear on the US children's television show that gave her hope growing up, Sesame Street.

The songstress filmed an animated clip called Five Kangaroos in Alice Springs that will feature in Sesame Street's 44th season.

"I watched it everyday when I got home from school," Mauboy says.

The singer says she was inspired by the program growing up in an indigenous community.

"We could imagine, we could make believe and just have that hope."

Mauboy worked with children from Yipirinya state school on the film clip.

It's the first time Sesame Street will feature Australian indigenous content.

Sesame Street's new season airs on ABC2 from Thursday.
