Maxwell extends PSG contract

Paris Saint-Germain have extended the contract of Brazilian left-back Maxwell until June 2015.

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Friday announced that they had taken up the option to extend the contract of Brazilian left-back Maxwell.

The former Barcelona player, who arrived in the French capital in January 2012, is now tied to PSG until June 2015.

The announcement follows recent contract extensions signed by Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi.

Italy midfielder Motta has put pen to paper on a deal keeping him at PSG until 2016 before the club announced on Wednesday that Matuidi had agreed a new four-year deal through to 2018.

PSG's attentions are now likely to turn to sorting out the future of Brazilian defender Alex, whose existing contract expires in the summer.
