A passenger jet issued a mayday call and made an unplanned landing soon after taking off from Brisbane Airport.
The Etihad Airbus A330, which can carry around 250 passengers, reported an "in-flight emergency" to air-traffic control and returned to the Queensland hub at around 2.30pm (AEST) on Thursday.
Air Services Australia said it has landed safely and that airport firies had been put on alert but not needed.
"It landed safely and taxied under its own power to the terminal," an spokesman said.
It is not yet clear why the aircraft had to turn back.

Comment has been sought from Etihad.
Etihad said flight EY473 from Brisbane to Singapore suffered a "flight-deck instrument failure", which caused it to return to the Australian airport.
"The flight crew followed all standard operational procedures, declared an emergency, and made a precautionary landing," a spokesman said.
"The aircraft landed without incident and all passengers and crew are safe.
"Passengers are being rebooked to continue their journey on alternate carriers."
