May's aides resign, blamed for vote woes

Two of Theresa May's aides have resigned, after a disastrous election which saw the Conservative Party lose its majority.

The two closest aides of British Prime Minister Theresa May have announced their resignation in the face of vociferous criticism from within May's ruling Conservatives.

"I take responsibility for my part in this election campaign, which was the oversight of our policy programme," outgoing chief of staff Nick Timothy said via the Conservative Party website.

A party spokesman confirmed that his colleague Fiona Hill had also resigned.
