Health insurer Medibank Private has named National Australia Bank general manager of group performance and planning Mark Rogers as its new chief financial officer.

Mr Rogers, who has more than 20 years experience in finance and health services, will replace Paul Koppelman in January. Mr Koppelman has left the health insurer after four years as its CFO following a management restructure in September.

"Mark's professional experience means that he comes to our organisation with a blend of strong financial experience and sectorial knowledge, which will be beneficial for our organisation," Medibank chief executive Craig Drummond said in a statement to the ASX on Monday.
