Brazilian Gabriel Medina has moved back to the top of surfing's world rankings after winning the Fiji Pro on Friday.
Medina posted a near-perfect two-wave score in the final at Cloudbreak to beat young American rival and last year's rookie-of-the-year Nat Young 18.40 to 14.77.
The victory is the 20-year-old's second of the year, following his triumph at the season-opening event on the Gold Coast.
"It's great to be back at the top of the ratings - it's still early but I'm feeling good," the new world No.1 said.
"Nat (Young) is a great guy and that was a good final against him.
"I was so nervous inside those barrels, I couldn't see anything, but when I came out I was stoked."
Despite losing to Young in the semi-finals, Tahitian Michel Bourez has jumped up to No.2 on the overall standings and ahead of 11-time world champion Kelly Slater in third.
Fourth-placed Taj Burrow is the highest-ranked Australian, with compatriots Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning fifth and eighth respectively.
Defending title-holder Fanning was the only Australian to reach the quarter-finals in Fiji, but failed to get past an on-fire Young while nursing a knee injury.
The 11-stop tour next heads to Jeffrey's Bay in South Africa for round six from July 10.
"I've never surfed at Jeffrey's Bay before but I'm going home after this to prepare and I'll be working hard," said Medina.
