Meilutyte breaks 50m breaststroke record

Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte has broken the women's 50m breaststroke world record at the world championships in Barcelona.

Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte broke the women's 50m breaststroke world record at the world championships in Barcelona on Saturday.

Meilutyte clocked 29.48 seconds in the semi-finals to shave four tenths of a second off the mark set by Russian Yulia Efimova earlier on Saturday.

Efimova had broken the world record of 29.80 set by American Jess Hardy in 2009.
