Melbourne counter-terror raids 'not connected to Endeavour Hills incident'

Australian Federal Police says this morning's raids in Melbourne were not in response to a threat to public safety, or related to last week's incident in which a teenage terror suspect was shot dead.

The Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police Joint Counter Terrorism Team are exercising a number of search warrants across Melbourne this morning as part of a joint operation.

A spokesperson for the AFP told SBS the searches were taking place in the suburbs of Seabrook, Kealba, Meadow Heights, Broadmeadows and Flemington.
The spokesperson said the raids were not in response to a threat to public safety.

"This operational activity is not in response to a threat to public safety nor is it related to last week’s incident at Endeavour Hills."

"While this activity is continuing no further comment will be made."

One man has reportedly been arrested but SBS has not yet confirmed this.
