Melbourne factory fire under control

A Melbourne food processing factory has been engulfed by fire which was brought under control in little more than an hour.

Firefighters have brought a Melbourne factory blaze under control.

The fire at the food processing factory on Bond Street, Mordialloc, was reported about 5pm and fire crews got there within seven minutes.

It was brought under control by 6.15pm.

The MFB advised crews would remain on scene for several hours and the cause of the fire is unknown.

More than 50 firefighters tackled the fire, which produced a significant amount of smoke, prompting a watch and act alert to be issued advising residents to stay inside, close their doors and windows, and turn off any heating and cooling systems.
