Melbourne pasta factory burns down

Dozens of firefighters will spend the night at a Melbourne pasta factory that has been gutted by fire.

Firefighters will spend the night at a Melbourne pasta factory which has been gutted in an intense blaze.

The fire ripped through the Somerton factory on Saturday afternoon, causing some of the tilt-slab wall to collapse.

Crews managed to get the fire at the Fillo Drive property under control by 5.30pm.

Everyone was evacuated from the property and no one was injured.

An advice alert remains in place for Broadmeadows, Campbellfield, Coolaroo, Craigieburn, Dallas, Epping, Greenvale, Lalor, Meadow Heights, Roxburgh Park, Somerton, Thomastown and Wollert.

Fillo Drive and adjoining roads are currently closed and people are advised to avoid the area.
